Lesson Practice

Today's lesson — "Above all else I want to see." — invites you into a deeper experience of the Course's central teaching. As with every lesson in the workbook, the emphasis is on application rather than intellectual understanding. Let the idea for today accompany you throughout your day.

Begin your practice periods by repeating the idea slowly to yourself. Then close your eyes and let your mind be still for a moment. Don't try to force any particular experience — simply hold the idea gently in your awareness and notice what arises.

Throughout the day, return to today's idea whenever you remember. Each time you apply it — especially in moments of stress, conflict, or uncertainty — you strengthen your connection to the peace that lies beneath all surface appearances.

Key Themes

  • Vision: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about vision, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Will: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about will, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Light: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about light, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Perception: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about perception, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.

Practice Notes

  • Repeat the idea for today slowly and with intention at the start of each practice period
  • Close your eyes and sit quietly for a moment after repeating the idea
  • Apply the idea specifically to situations and people throughout your day
  • Don't judge yourself if you forget — simply return to the idea when you remember
  • Let the practice be gentle and without pressure

Contemplation

Sit with today's idea for a few quiet moments. There is no need to analyze or understand it intellectually. The workbook's approach is experiential — understanding comes through practice, not through thinking about practice.

What would your day look like if you truly held this idea in mind? How might your responses to people and situations shift? Let these questions rest lightly in your awareness without demanding answers.

From Walking the Workbook

Beloved, the Workbook makes an explicit demand today.

The Course is asking us to declare, today, that seeing is what we want above all else. Not happiness in the conventional sense. Not safety. Not even comfort. The seeing the Course has been pointing toward.

This is a hard ask for Day Twenty-Seven. Most of us, at this point, want our partner to behave differently, the bank account to be larger, the body to feel better. The Course is not dismissing these wants. It is asking us to consider that the seeing it is offering would change our relationship to all of them.

We do not have to feel that we want vision most. We only have to apply the idea.

For today. Apply the idea. Above all else I want to see. Sit with it.

[Intro] (soft, then lift) above all else… [Verse1] I’ve been chasing every answer trying to make it all make sense running circles through the questions never knowing what I missed I’ve been holding onto pieces like they had to make me whole but they never really settled never really filled the hole [Hook] Above all else I want to see (not just feel, not just believe) something real in front of me [Verse2] Every time I thought I found it it would shift into something new like the meaning wasn’t stable like it changed with every view I don’t need another answer I don’t need another sign I just need to see it clearly without filling in the lines [Hook] Above all else I want to see (not just guess what it could be) something true in front of me Above all else I want to see [Bridge] (soft) if I let go of the needing if I let go of control maybe clarity was always waiting underneath it all Above all else I want to see (not just feel, not just believe) something real in front of me Above all else I want to see [Outro] above all else… (i want to see) above all else… (i want to see) above all else… (i want to see)
