Lesson Practice

Today's lesson — "God is in everything I see." — invites you into a deeper experience of the Course's central teaching. As with every lesson in the workbook, the emphasis is on application rather than intellectual understanding. Let the idea for today accompany you throughout your day.

Begin your practice periods by repeating the idea slowly to yourself. Then close your eyes and let your mind be still for a moment. Don't try to force any particular experience — simply hold the idea gently in your awareness and notice what arises.

Throughout the day, return to today's idea whenever you remember. Each time you apply it — especially in moments of stress, conflict, or uncertainty — you strengthen your connection to the peace that lies beneath all surface appearances.

Key Themes

  • God: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about God, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Vision: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about vision, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Perception: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about perception, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Holiness: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about holiness, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.

Practice Notes

  • Repeat the idea for today slowly and with intention at the start of each practice period
  • Close your eyes and sit quietly for a moment after repeating the idea
  • Apply the idea specifically to situations and people throughout your day
  • Don't judge yourself if you forget — simply return to the idea when you remember
  • Let the practice be gentle and without pressure

Contemplation

Sit with today's idea for a few quiet moments. There is no need to analyze or understand it intellectually. The workbook's approach is experiential — understanding comes through practice, not through thinking about practice.

What would your day look like if you truly held this idea in mind? How might your responses to people and situations shift? Let these questions rest lightly in your awareness without demanding answers.

From Walking the Workbook

Beloved, today's lesson is the Workbook's first direct claim about what the willingness to see differently reveals.

What we have been willing to see differently — the chair, the person, the situation — is, the Course is claiming, where God is. Not God as a separate being inhabiting the chair. God as the Source that has not actually been separated from anything the mind is looking at.

We do not have to feel that God is in the chair. The lesson asks the application. We apply God is in everything I see to specific things, slowly and gently, and we allow the application to do its work.

For readers who came to the Course from outside religious traditions, this lesson can be uncomfortable. The word God can catch in the throat. You can substitute the Source, Love, what is, or whatever language the lesson requires for it to be applied.

For today. Apply the idea. Notice the small steadying that arrives, sometimes, when the lesson lands.

[Intro] (soft) maybe it was always here… [Verse1] I’ve been looking through the same frame calling everything the same like there’s nothing underneath it just a surface I can name I’ve been moving past the details like they didn’t really matter but there’s something in the stillness I can feel it getting clearer [Chorus] God is in everything I see (not just where I thought He’d be) in the quiet, in between there’s something I’m starting to see God is in everything I see [Verse2] Every moment feels a little like it’s opening instead like the meaning isn’t missing just the way I’ve always read I don’t have to force a reason I don’t have to make it loud there’s a presence in the ordinary that I’m noticing now [Chorus] God is in everything I see (not just where I thought He’d be) in the silence, in the space there’s something I can’t replace God is in everything I see [Bridge] (soft) not something I have to find… something I stopped seeing [Final Chorus] God is in everything I see (not just where I thought He’d be) in the stillness, in the now there’s something here I feel somehow God is in everything I see [Outro] (soft) it was always here…
