Lesson Practice

Today's lesson — "God goes with me wherever I go." — invites you into a deeper experience of the Course's central teaching. As with every lesson in the workbook, the emphasis is on application rather than intellectual understanding. Let the idea for today accompany you throughout your day.

Begin your practice periods by repeating the idea slowly to yourself. Then close your eyes and let your mind be still for a moment. Don't try to force any particular experience — simply hold the idea gently in your awareness and notice what arises.

Throughout the day, return to today's idea whenever you remember. Each time you apply it — especially in moments of stress, conflict, or uncertainty — you strengthen your connection to the peace that lies beneath all surface appearances.

Key Themes

  • God: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about God, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Oneness: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about oneness, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Love: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about love, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.
  • Peace: This lesson touches on the Course's teaching about peace, inviting you to explore what this means in your direct experience.

Practice Notes

  • Repeat the idea for today slowly and with intention at the start of each practice period
  • Close your eyes and sit quietly for a moment after repeating the idea
  • Apply the idea specifically to situations and people throughout your day
  • Don't judge yourself if you forget — simply return to the idea when you remember
  • Let the practice be gentle and without pressure

Contemplation

Sit with today's idea for a few quiet moments. There is no need to analyze or understand it intellectually. The workbook's approach is experiential — understanding comes through practice, not through thinking about practice.

What would your day look like if you truly held this idea in mind? How might your responses to people and situations shift? Let these questions rest lightly in your awareness without demanding answers.

From Walking the Workbook

Beloved, the Workbook's most quietly comforting lesson so far.

God — the Source the Course has been pointing at — is not, in the Course's view, located somewhere else from where we are. God goes with us. Not as a guard or watcher. As the presence the mind has not actually been separated from, however far the dream of separation has seemed to take it.

For many of us, this lesson is the first that produces a real and sustained sense of presence. The sentence is repeated several times through the day, and the repetition makes available a quiet that the running mind has not been allowing. Many students name Lesson 41 as one they return to years later.

We do not have to feel God's presence today. The lesson asks the repetition. The presence, when it arrives, is given.

For today. Repeat the idea many times during the day. Especially in moments of small distress or transition.

[Intro] "You see what is hidden..." "And You are with me still." [Verse1] I look around and feel the fear, The world seems loud, the sky unclear. But deep inside, beyond this view, There’s a quiet voice that leads me through. [Pre-Chorus] You remind me I’m not just this face, Not this body, not this place… [Chorus] 🎶 I am not alone, You are here with me. In every shadow, in every sea. Not just on the surface, but deep in my soul— You go with me… You make me whole. 🎶 [Solo] [Verse2] The world I see is not all true, It's shaped by thoughts I never knew. But even when I’ve lost my way, You walk with me through every day. [Pre-Chorus] You don’t need to part the skies, To show me love that never dies… [Chorus] 🎶 I am not alone, You are here with me. In every heartbreak, in every plea. Not just on the surface, but deep in my soul— You go with me… You make me whole. 🎶[so 🎶[solo] [Bridge] 🎶 [Bridge] 🎶 I am spirit, safe and free Love created me Nothing real can be destroyed— I walk with peace, I walk with joy. 🎶 🎶 God goes with me… wherever I go. Love goes with me… it’s all I need to know. 🎶 [Solo] [Final Chorus] 🎶 I am not alone, You are here with me. Through every illusion, You help me see. Beyond every shadow, beyond all control— You go with me… You make me whole. I am not alone… I am not alone… You go with me… You make me whole… I am not alone… I am not alone… I am not alone… You go with me… You make me whole… I am not alone… I am not alone… You go with me… You make me whole… I am not alone… I am not alone… I am not alone… I am not alone… You go with me… You make me whole… I am not alone… I am not alone, You are here with me. Through every illusion, You help me see. Beyond every shadow, beyond all control— You go with me… You make me whole. I am not alone… I am not alone… You go with me… You make me whole… I am not alone…
